Powerful voices from the wilderness, lightbeams piercing the darkness, yes, that is what it is like as the Holy Spirit moves my heart when reading the following letter written to Israeli Public Security Minister, Gideon Ezra, by three Israeli youths. They wrote their letter following his visit with them in the Maasiyahu Prison where they are still being held. They were arrested for stopping traffic on the Ayalon Highway in Tel Aviv in protest of Prime Minister Ariel Sharon's sinister Disengagement plan.
Minister Ezra likened their faith, that God could stop the Disengagement, to the same faith that a rapist has in what he is doing. Here is their response:
"Yesterday you met with us, and in response to our statement that we are believers, you asked, 'And a rapist doesn't believe in his way?' This question teaches us several important concepts. We learned that you don't know what faith and belief are. Faith is truth that lights up your life like a lighthouse; it's an ideal that totally fills you. It's the ambition to improve the world, the feeling of being willing to give your life for these ideals.
"For you, however, the concept of faith is a bit too big; in order to relate to it, you had to bring it down to the debased world in which you live. We are not blaming you; but it would be advisable for you, and for the State of Israel, to resign and find another job that is appropriate for people like you. The job of a Minister in the Government of Israel is something that is appropriate for bigger people... "The truth will win. The light is already breaking through the clouds, and the salvation is practically at the door, may it come speedily in our days, Amen."
These are the voices of innocence. Not voices that submit to darkness, but of a purity of truth that has authority to cut through the rot of this dying world!
God reminded me after reading this of Revelation 14:1-5:
Then I looked, and there before me was the Lamb, standing on Mount Zion, and with him 144,000 who had his name and his Father's name written on their foreheads. And I heard a sound from heaven like the roar of rushing waters and like a loud peal of thunder. The sound I heard was like that of harpists playing their harps. And they sang a new song before the throne and before the four living creatures and the elders. No one could learn the song except the 144,000 who had been redeemed from the earth. These are those who did not defile themselves with women, for they kept themselves pure. They follow the Lamb wherever he goes. They were purchased from among men and offered as firstfruits to God and the Lamb. No lie was found in their mouths; they are blameless.
These youths are numbered among today's heroes of the faith, heroes of renown, the heroes who are leading us into the last days of this age! These people who are being pushed to the margins of Israeli society are spoken of, yes, even prophesied about by Daniel 9:32-35:
With flattery he[antichrist] will corrupt those who have violated the covenant, but the people who know their God will firmly resist him. Those who are wise will instruct many, though for a time they will fall by the sword or be burned or captured or plundered. When they fall, they will receive a little help, and many who are not sincere will join them. Some of the wise will stumble, so that they may be refined, purified and made spotless until the time of the end, for it will still come at the appointed time.
This is not just a sign or fulfilled prophecy, but a real-time acknowledgement of what is about to come upon the world . . . God is drawing a line in the sand. He has done it before the eyes of a government minister of Israel and He has done it through the mouths of babes! And yet . . . the vastness of the world's people do not have eyes to see or ears to hear the awesome history-to-be that is unfolding before their very eyes. They are under the stupor of the delusion that God has caused to come upon the world. They have exchanged the truth for wickedness!
Pray for Israel's faithful, pray for their steadfastness, pray that they stand firm to the end! God has marked them and set them apart as His very own. Join your voice with theirs, draw the line in front of you and cross not over into the darkness, but be a beacon of faith to those who seek to come out of the darkness before the dreadful day of slaughter overtakes the earth!
Prepare yourselves, the time is dreadfully short. You must choose this day whom you will serve and then serve in faith and zealousness until we are united at the appointed time of the resurrection! Then and only then can we truly celebrate true victory as we feast with our beloved King in His eternal kingdom!
