It has been suggested again and again by many conservative Christians, and I agree, that the coming election for president of the United States is very important, but the choice of candidate seems to be the typical "catch 22" type choice between the lesser of two evils. This has produced within me a monumental struggle to find a way to make my vote count. I have struggled for nearly a year over this matter until recently.
Being conservative I am left with little choice between voting for George Bush, decidedly a moderate, or a slate of more conservative hopefuls that the media will not expose to the light of day. John Kerry and the other socialist or should I say progressive (liberal) candidates are automatically not considered because of their anti-God and anti-U.S. heritage platforms and voting records.
The struggle comes
down to Bush, the moderate, who has made some good decisions under
fire, but has stepped all over the constitution to get there,
which makes him look more like the liberal's savior, Franklin
Delano Roosevelt, than a tried and true conservative in the American
tradition.
I have repeatedly made it clear that Bush's Road Map to Peace
will bring judgment on America by pushing Israel to rebel against
God. As can be seen I have little to get excited over in regards
to Bush, but when considering the near blackout on third party
candidates of the conservative bent I felt that although some
were without question good men, they had no chance against the
two Goliath parties. It would be the equivalent of throwing my
vote away. I know some intend to vote for them anyway in a form
of protest vote, but in the end this will only be applauded by
the left.
My struggle ended when
I released the whole thing into God's hands. It was then that
He made the picture very clear to me. This election is not about
picking our favorite candidate or voting the party line. It is
about opposing that which sets its face against God and is the
enemy of our constitution as created by those who sacrificed lives
and fortunes to see it established. This is not about finding
the perfect man to elect president. That would be no problem if
Jesus were to run for office, although I doubt He would get elected
for lack of media coverage. The truth is that no one is righteous,
not one!
This battle is shaping up to be the defining hour of our nation.
The Word of God tells us that our battle is not against flesh
and blood, but against the spiritual forces of darkness. But,
no one will question that the spiritual forces of darkness inhabit
the hearts of men bent on wickedness. Wicked men are agents of
evil and must be stopped. The heritage of our nation is a conservative
heritage based on the irrefutable presence of God. It is not based
on socialism, stalinism, communism, liberalism, progressivism
or any other type of 'ism. My liberal friends may clench their
teeth on this one, but God is in His nature a conservative. The
truth is never changing, we are to conserve it. God's wisdom is
never changing, we must conserve it. Righteousness is never changing,
we must conserve it. God himself has never changed to keep up
with the times. He spoke into being what works and He is sticking
by it . . . and expects us to do the same!
The left must be stopped! They have never ceased their efforts to undermine what God has wrought in the hearts of generations of Americans, love for God and for each other. The left supports homosexual marriage, something God calls an abomination! Can we think of a stronger word against something? The left says that a woman has a "right" to kill her unborn baby if it inconveniences her. God says that such people will not inherit the kingdom of God! What action did the baby perform to warrant the consequences of death?
What about largess from the public treasury? Something the left likes to call entitlements. There was a time, not long ago, when it was considered an abomination to our constitution to give private citizens the tax payers money. Family helped family and people helped their neighbors. Sometimes things were hard, but God used such tests to build the character of America. Now the left buys votes with promises of ever greater "social programs" and now we have become fat and sleek, dependent on the government rather than God.
The nation is polarizing . . . we are drifting into two distinct camps. Both camps are growing increasingly hostile. The U.S. has never experienced this level of polarity since the civil war . . .
The liberal-godless camp will do whatever they can to regain power. When they have it the nation will change dramatically . . . they will never willingly relinquish power again. Those in the conservative God-fearing camp are now in a fight for their very existence and that of the nation as we know it. The U.S.A. will not go down until the last day, it will just turn very dark!
The battle is the LORD's, we must face this age's Goliath armed with faith and the awesome presence of Almighty God . . . the ultimate victory is already ours.
The increasing permissiveness of our culture has brought us to the edge of the precipice. We either turn back from our wickedness or we go over the edge together. The LORD establishes all who are in authority, but he leaves the people of our great nation the choice, not of the lesser of two evils, but between evil and hope.
Every American who can vote and serves God must not vote as a Republican or a Democrat but as a servant of God! We must once again become that city on a hill that President Reagan spoke of. In saying such he instilled hope that crossed party lines. The left offers no hope, they only promise to appease our selfish desires. Take the time to read the Communist Manifesto for a real eye opener! Our hope is with the man God has established as our present leader. As unquestionably imperfect as he is, George W. Bush is making some attempt to walk with God and if our leaders make this attempt then we as believers must walk with them, imperfect or not!
