THE
YOM KIPPUR WAR AFTER 30 YEARS, NOT A LONG TIME
By
Randy Loudenslager
As Israel remembers
the miracle of the Yom Kippur War thirty years later she has realized
that the war never ended. Israel, after having launched an air
attack on a suspected terrorist training facility deep inside
Syria on Saturday, in response to the latest deadly terror attack,
knows that though she has the right to defend her people she will
nevertheless be scorned worldwide for doing so.
Cannot the
teachers of Israel convince the leaders that people are not inherently
good at heart, but that they are wicked and deceitful and that
they are for the most part not in their right mind? Israel honestly
believes that the world will wake up and realize the error of
its ways and support Israel against the sickening murders of her
men, women and children at the hands of people who pray nightly
for the wholesale destruction of Israel. She may receive condolences
from their lips, but their hearts are set against Israel.
Some of you
have already sent me email suggesting that now that Israel has
attacked a base inside Syria war is inevitable. Remember, this
is thirty years after the extremely humiliating defeat of Syria
and Egypt by Israel. A defeat that was intended by Israel to teach
Syria and Egypt to think twice before trying such foolishness
again. If Syria could even dream of coming close to taking on
Israel, would she? Remember that Syria is considered a member
of President Bush's Axis of Evil. It might be time to pause on
the fact that President Bush has a very large army in Iraq. This
very large, and I might add powerful, army is fielded by a pro-Israel
superpower. This army also took down the most powerful of Arab
nations in only three weeks. For the moment Israel can act with
some immunity.
If the American
army wasn't presently in Iraq would Israel have anything to worry
about? Of course not, she is protected by Michael the Arch Angel!
Israel will not be beaten until she rebels, never! Don't let
anyone deceive you in any way, for that day will not come until
the rebellion occurs and the man of lawlessness is revealed, the
man doomed to destruction (2 Thessalonians 2:4). But when
Israel gives her land to the Palestinians as a nation state she
will have rebelled against Almighty God and the everlasting covenant
that He established with Abraham. Only then will Michael be removed
from holding back the man of lawlessness. And now you know what is holding
him back, so that he may be revealed at the proper time (2 Thessalonians
2:6). Even
then it will take a fake peace and a surprise attack by a truly
massive army that includes Russia to accomplish such a feat.
We should be
in awe of what God is doing. Who in all of the Middle East is
going to strike Israel without their own serious devastation being
the result?
God has gathered
Israel back to the land. Israel at this very moment could become
one of the mightiest nations on earth if she turned back to God
and took refuge in Him and His might alone. Sadly there will not
be a great revival before Jesus comes. More than 72% of Israelis
consider themselves secular Jews. They will not turn to God, but
will do even as they are doing now, turning to their political
leaders for answers. Their leaders will sell them out when they
make a covenant with death. They will cry peace and safety, but
they will have none.
As Israel fasted
during Yom Kippur thirty years ago, she was attacked by Syria
and Egypt. Israel knew the attack was coming and still did nothing
more than send a few more units to the borders. These tiny units
fought heroically and many were simply overrun by the sheer onslaught
of the massive offensives. Israel fought back and not only gained
back her territory, but took Syrian territory to within artillery
range of Damascus before they decided to stop. The entire Egyptian
3rd Army was surrounded and faced annihilation, but Israel showed
mercy and compassion and observed a ceasefire. Syria and Egypt
may tell their people that they were victorious over Israel, but
no one has mobilized another invasion force against Israel since
then. Why? They fear Israel almost as much as they hate Israel.
The day will come when the peoples who hate Israel will have the
upper hand and Israel, abandoned by God because of her rebellion,
will not be shown the mercy she has shown her enemies . . . and
God will remember.
Do not let
the rumors of wars get to you. Keep your eyes on the big picture.
