BETWEEN IRAQ AND A HARD PLACE

As the Arab League summit begins and everyone wonders whether peace will finally come to the Middle East by the efforts of the Arab nations a fundamental questions looms in the shadows. Will Israel ever be able to do the right thing in the eyes of the Arabs and the rest of the world short of the entire Jewish population of earth committing suicide?
The answer is an unfortunate and yet emphatic no. The Jews have never been able to assimilate into any society or culture they have lived in. The Zionist dream of a homeland for all Jews has only angered the world against them. The world expects the Jews to live according to its ways and yet will not accept them if they do. If they live according to their own customs or those of God then they incur even more severe wrath. If Israel gives the Canaanites God's land the world will not love them for it. The Arabs and adherents of Islam will not love them for it. The Palestinians will not love them for it. And God will not love them for it. And yet Israel marches to the beat of the world's chants for peace and towards the time of punishment decreed by God .
America no longer considers the interests of Israel as paramount. Those who curse Israel will be cursed and those who bless Israel will be blessed. As an American I am deeply distressed that my beloved country would sacrifice the apple of God's eye for a crack at Saddam Hussein. As much as the next person I would love to see him deposed, but not at the expense of Israel. As a believer in Jesus Christ I must look past the interests of my own country and see things for what they are, in raw naked truth. Israel trusts the United States, almost blindly. We are asking Israel to forsake the covenant she has with God so that we can gain the support of the nations that only wish her complete annihilation.
If Israel were to change course and turn back to God and in faith serve the covenant then we would once again witness the miracles of her victories in past wars against the spirit of the antichrist, but sadly the Bible shows that she will not. But on the last day those who are left of Israel will cry out to God and he shall redeem them, He will avenge Israel himself, clothed in his righteous wrath. And on that day those who hold to the testimony of Jesus Christ will be joined to Israel and God shall reign on earth!
