WAR WITHIN
By Randy Loudenslager
There most certainly is war in Israel. Kassam rockets striking villages, shootings and stabbings, missile strikes and bombs on buses. But the war that will determine Israel's future is being waged in the Security Cabinet of Prime Minister Ariel Sharon's government. Sharon is making an attempt to reconfine Arafat to his compound in Ramallah, but the Labor (left) party faction of the cabinet has triumphed against the plan, again. Most leftists will not dare criticize the increased activity against the Palestinians by the IDF due to support for such actions by the general population. What they are doing is attempting to rebuild public support for opening diplomatic ties with Arafat.
The latest polls show confusion on the part of the Israelis with no clear support for one direction or another. This is a stark contrast to a year ago when Sharon was swept into office with overwhelming support. The left, particularly in the media are taking advantage of this swing in popular sentiment and are ferocious in their assaults on Sharon. The media in particular seems to be the voice for the left as it cries peace and safety through diplomacy, a policy that failed miserably under former Prime Minister Ehud Barak. It was under Barak that Israel offered her most sweeping concessions to the Palestinians which included unheard of compromises on the future of Jerusalem. The Palestinian answer to diplomacy was the now infamous Intifada.
For those looking for the signs of the coming of Jesus Christ by watching Israel it must be remembered that whether Israel negotiates a peace with the Palestinians through diplomacy or war she will indeed forsake the covenant and give the Palestinians a portion of her inheritance. There are those in Israel and outside of Israel who have eyes to see the truth and are faithfully warning against any form of Palestinian state forged from Israel's inheritance. These modern day prophets are a minority and are spoken of by the prophet Daniel as people who know their God and who will resist the antichrist. They will teach many and many will be killed or captured, it also says that many who are taught by them will not be sincere. Be careful!
