Palestinians Waging Guerrilla War Against Israel

By Randy Loudenslager

Israel has announced that it has initiated a new strategy against Palestinian aggression. Although the government hasn't announced what the new measures are, they are apparently of a more aggressive nature. After the latest attack took the lives of six Israeli soldiers the IDF retaliated with combined air, land and sea attacks against Gaza and West Bank targets, most notably Yassar Arafat's offices in which seven of his body guards were killed.

Yassar Arafat and Islamic spiritual leaders are encouraging the Palestinians to fight the Israelis until their flag flies over all of Jerusalem. This has been Arafat's battle cry as he defies Israel from his Ramallah compound which is surrounded by Israeli tanks. All Islamic terror groups in the region have declared war on Israel and counting the number of PA policemen involved in recent attacks it can be assumed that Arafat has now included their corps of 50,000 men into the fray. These officers are better trained than the average terror perpetrators and have access to heavy weapons should Arafat choose to escalate to the final level of all-out war with Israel.

Arafat is attempting to capitalize on Israeli fears and force Israel to negotiate on his terms. Backed into a corner, Arafat has come out swinging. But his bite may backfire as Israel loses all confidence in Arafat's peace intentions. Ariel Sharon has already stated that Israel will no longer deal with Arafat, but Arafat's escalation could give his successor the advantage at the negotiating table. Israel is sick of war and hampered by liberal policy makers in the government the military has witnessed the refusal of over 1,000 reserve officers to serve in Palestinian areas of control.

If it seems lately that all political events lead to Israel it is because they are. Nations all over the world are beginning to weigh in on the conflict, as reported yesterday, even the Pope is wading in. Peace and safety is becoming the catch phrase of world politicians. We know from scripture that soon there will be none. When you pray for the peace of Jerusalem remember that it is not a worldly peace we are praying for but the ultimate peace that will come about when Jesus Christ conquers this world and makes it his kingdom. Then there will be no more war.
