Good News, Bad News
And The Good News
By Randy Loudenslager
The good news is that Iran's latest medium range missile test ended with the explosion of the missile's engine. Iran does not have an indigenous industry capable of building missile engines and has thus far relied on purchased units from North Korea. In other good news, the Palestinian terror group Hamas launched two and possibly three Qasem rockets from the Gaza strip at Israel, but they all fell harmlessly in a farm field.
The bad news isn't new. Palestinians, warned by Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon to not escalate attacks while he was off to Washington, took the opportunity to act violently in spite of the warning. As a result three Israeli women, a man and an eleven year old girl were murdered. The latter death happening when Palestinian insurgents entered an Israeli home and shot the girl and her mother to death. Israel retaliated with coordinated helicopter based rocket attacks against a Gaza police post and a metal work shop used to manufacture mortars. At the same time, Iran used the 23rd anniversary of the overthrow of the Shah to rally popular support in a show against American accusations of the Islamic state's support of terror and quest for weapons of mass destruction. Although the speeches coming from Iran are bellicose towards Israel and the U.S., they are hollow in their threat and are considered a face saving measure by a nation listed as a member of what President Bush has called the 'axis of evil.'
The Good News . . .
Tension appears to be rising, but Jesus told us that there will
be wars and rumors of wars. It isn't wars or rumors of them that
should garner the attention of Christians. Jesus told us to head
for the hills when we see Jerusalem surrounded by armies because
her desolation is near. What will precipitate this massive invasion
of the Holy Land? Peace. Israel will be living securely in unwalled
villages, certainly she will be living in peace, but this peace
will be a deliberate ruse in order to catch Israel off guard.
Because Israel will enter a covenant with death she will draw
God's wrath which will result in her desolation. Remember brothers
and sisters, a remnant will be saved from Israel when Jesus comes
again and then we who have been caught up in the air with him
will be joined with Israel for the wedding feast, what a glorious
promise!
