Palestinian State
Promised For 2002
By Randy Loudenslager
Yassar Arafat wasted no time promising the Palestinian people that they will have their own nation in 2002. Most Middle East observers normally scoff at these once every new year type of proclamations, but recent events may prove Arafat's words. There are some within the Israeli government that would agree with Arafat. Some predictions give the process just 8 weeks to come about. Although there are occasional renegade militants attempting attacks independently, Arafat has managed to reduce and in some cases halt Palestinian aggression. Hamas and Islamic Jihad have remained quiet and there seems to be an air of momentum towards the Mitchell accord which basically grants Palestinian statehood in exchange for Israel's recognition and peace.
In what would appear to be unrelated news, North Korea has accused America of planning an attack against her with the purpose of greater control of Asia. The North Koreans may be using this rhetoric to justify their steady military build-up along the demilitarized zone (DMZ). America has maintained a military presence of about 37,000 troops along the DMZ as a deterrent against North Korean aggression. China, North Korea's chief alliance, has consistently issued identical rhetoric against the U.S. over the last year.
How are these seemingly unrelated events
tied together? We have to look at the increasingly complex big
picture. When, not if, Israel gives away her inheritance to achieve
peace it will be American involvement that helped bring it about.
America represents a power that few would challenge. In this position
of power, America, through the intimidating war on terror, will
be considered Israel's safety net. America will not let any nation
attack Israel. If America's enemies work together they could reduce
America's effectiveness on the battlefield enough that she will
be overwhelmed by the enormity of her military commitments around
the world. This will leave Israel sitting ripe for the picking.
Even as you read this, America's enemies, around the world, are
working together to achieve their agendas. There is an atmosphere
of deal making among these peoples. For example, China is far
too willing to start, directly or indirectly, multiple military
engagements with the U.S. if they can get others to join in or
the right opportunities present themselves. In exchange for cooperation
with other U.S. opposition nations, China could achieve control
over Taiwan, the China Sea and become the dominant nation over
all Southeast Asia. The prize will be well worth the relatively
small risks involved. America can not fight multiple wars and
provide adequate protection for her armies at the same time.
"He [antichrist] will invade the kingdom when its people feel
secure, and he will seize it through intrigue. Then an overwhelming
army will be swept away before him; both it and a prince of the
covenant will be destroyed." Daniel 11:21-22. Although it doesn't mention America, one could
picture an American army sent to defend Israel. The army would
lack sufficient defensive air power because those aircraft are
already committed to defending Taiwan as China overwhelms her
defenses and has possibly sunk one or more U.S. carriers. Without
proper air cover the army is swept away with weapons of mass destruction.
These are realities in this world that although may not play out
exactly as I specified here, will play out in similar fashion,
the Bible says so. We must watch carefully, there are people who
are in need of the gospel. People who will see these things and
be overcome by fear because they have no hope. We must share our
hope in the resurrection through Jesus Christ. Now is the time!
