Russia's Newfound Influence
Russia, as we said last week, will not
tolerate an attack on Iraq. Now Russia has actually stated that
she is 'vehemently' opposed to any action against Iraq. This is
an extrememly important development when viewed through the lense
of Bible prophesy. The most significant display of force to come
against Israel in the last days will come mostly from the area
we know presently as the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS).
There are many holdovers from the old Soviet days. In fact, many
of todays Russian leaders also held leadership positions in the
Soviet days. Vladimyr Putin himself is former KGB. Many of these
post cold war leaders have made anti-jew comments that are reminiscent
of the Nazi Germany era. And just like Nazi Germany, nationalistic
groups are so popular that they swept Putin to power with little
trouble. As the pieces fall into place it becomes easier to see
why Russia and Iraq make such good friends. And it would take
very little imagination to picture Russian trrops among others
sweeping through Israel, but first the United States must be replaced
as the world's dominant power broker.
Russia is now taking great leaps into international politics. NATO members are courting Russia while she plays the girl who is hard to get. This tactic is working fabulously for her. What nation wouldn't feel self assured when what might be considered the most powerful military, economic and political organisation in the world has jjust formed a council exclusively for it's benefit? NATO has only thinly veiled it's almost desperate desire to win Russia to their alliance. The globalist's are willing to trade a portion of their economic hegemony over the world in the vain effort to bring Russia into an organisation where they can politically control the CIS a little better.
Russia wants a piece of the world's economic clout and has already begun to wield her newfound influence. She has become the second largest petroleum producing nation second only to Saudi Arabia, making her a very wealthy nation. In as little as 2-3 years she will be number one. Russia is not passive about this rivalry and has repeatedly undercut the OPEC nations price per barrel of crude oil. The United States is the gold mine target market for the world's crude oil sales and Russia has aggressively gone after that market, even courting the U.S. to buy her oil when OPEC began to cut production to raise prices.
Russia has increasingly become
more critical of the United States. Russia has even thrown in
her opinion on private gun ownership in the U.S. by coming down
solidly on the side of those who want to rid the country of guns.
Most disturbing is Russia's bold political offer to the Europeans
to look to Russia for security instead of the U.S. According to
Voice of Russia, "The Sept. 11 attacks on the United States
proved that for all of it's might and riches, the country cannot
guarantee its own security, let alone that of its allies."
Since the Bolshevik revolution in 1917 the Russians have sought
a united Europe and with no designated role for the U.S.
In March 2001, the Russian Foreign Ministry stated that "Moscow
seeks creation of a single, united, legal and cultural
civilized space." What the lumbering military establishment
of the defunct Soviet Union could not achieve Mr. Putin's Russia
is achieving with effortless ease!
