What steps can I take to prepare for the desolation?

By Randy Loudenslager

Most of you know that this web site ministry is dedicated to preparing the saints for the resurrection upon the return of Jesus Christ.

This section of our web site is dedicated to helping people prepare physically for what the prophets have warned is at the door. Although the following preparations are of a physical nature, we must understand that it is by faith in the sovereign power of the risen Christ that we take action. Our actions, including the deeds of preparation, are proof of our faith. By taking such action we are acknowledging what God foretold through the prophets. We take action because we believe.

You will probably never be able to make complete preparations for what is coming, but your act of obedience in faith will be a spiritual one and you will be carried through the times ahead beyond whatever provision you may make. Just as God carried Israel through the wilderness beyond her own self-provision so will our LORD carry those who remain faithful. Above all else is our God, and his grace is sufficient to cover all your needs!

When undertaking anything out of the normal routine of life most people start by scratching their heads and wondering where to start. This page will be a good place to 'get your head together' about where to start and what to do.

I have started by providing two checklists that will serve as outlines that you can refer to as often as needed in your preparations. This site is not intended to serve seasoned survivalists, but rather the rest of us in the basic needs of our survival in disasterous situations. This site will be tailored to the specific needs of Christians during the desolation period as well as basic survival preparations for isolated disaster scenarios.

PREPARATION CHECKLIST #1 - PREPARING THE HEART

  • 1) Pray. Pray before you start your preparations. Pray as you make preparations. Pray when you have finished your preparations.
  • 2) Never forget why you are preparing! You are not preparing out of fear of what will happen. You're preparing in faith that God will bring about what he foretold through the prophets. We trust God with absolute conviction. We do not just prepare for ourselves and loved ones. We are preparing for others we may not yet know. God will take care of many through the faithful ones!
  • 3) Learn to listen to the Holy Spirit! Submit to his gentle quiet voice within. He will show you the difference between your needs and your desires. This is important now because we cannot properly prepare until we have understanding. It will be essential later when we must decide whether or not to share our resources with those in need or not. Your desires will block God's use of you in reaching others, but your sacrifice of desire will open your eyes to the fact that your needs are taken care of and you are to be an extension of God's love to others.
  • 4) Just as the old farmer's wisdom tells us to plant seed, some for the birds, some for the bugs and some for us, so we must prepare, not only for losses, but also for other people.

PREPARATION CHECKLIST #2 - DESOLATION PROVISION & PREPARATION

There are two levels of priority when preparing for survival situations.

  • Primary preparations in order of priority:
    1) water, 2) food, 3) shelter, 4) warmth, 5) First Aid. 6) essential medication,
  • Secondary preparations in order of priority:
    A) dry clothing, B) hygiene/sanitation, C) protection, D) light, E) communication

*NOTE: Primary priorities are essential to maintain life. Secondary priorities primarily deal with comfort and safety particularly in longterm situations. DO NOT think about secondary priorites until the primary priorities have been satisfied!

There are two types of survival preparations to be made based on the two priority levels shown above.

  • Short term survival: Generally referred to as a period of up to 3 days. For our purposes we should consider up to 7 days as 'short term.'
  • Long term survival: This is a period requiring survival measures for 7 days or more. It is neccesary to divide the long term into two additional catagories:
  • Long term forseeable rescue and Long term escape & evasion (Not covered on this site at the moment).

These links provide information for:
[Short-term Survival, Primary Priorites], [Short-term Survival, Secondary Priorities],
[Long-term Survival, Primary Priorities].
These 'priority lists' are not exhaustive teaching on the subject of survival. There are many fine books that have done that. This is simply a starting point for Christians in their preparations for what we know is coming.
