Your email: Alright well i just have one more question i think. its not really about the bible, but here. if i seen the Lord coming down right now, say that all the tribulation is down along with the 7 year period. is it still alright for me to feel a little scared and also happy. scared because theres that chance that i might have been worse than i thought or something. even though i do go to church every sunday and try to follow God the best i can, even though sometimes i have committed mortal sins. for example drinking and masturbation. those are so common, hard to withstand, and so easily done, its hard to this that those are serious enough at my age. thats another questions. even though im sorry for all that i done, will He still see the holy spirit in me if i havent gone to confession yet? i dont know if you can answer that and if mortal sins apply to the bible or if its just in the catechism, but i can always ask. thanks again. |

My answer: Hi , My response: This might be one of the best questions I have ever had. This is the type of questions God wants us to ask. If you live a life of striving to keep your conscience clear before God and man then you will be very happy on that day. Striving doesn't mean that you will always have a clear conscience, it means that you know that guilt for sin is a bad thing and you want forgiveness for it. It means that even though we screw up we can truly repent for our sins and be forgiven. We should then continue not to sin in that area. If your conscience is telling you masturbation is wrong and you know in your heart that it is wrong then repent, be truly sorry to God, and then stop it. You will not be able to stop until you agree with your conscience. If your conscience says it is wrong then it is wrong. I believe that if God is showing you the signs of his coming as they happen, even though others can't see them, then on that day you will be rejoicing when he comes. The fear you have now is good fear. This is known as the fear of God and is what God wants. He doesn't want us to be afraid of him as someone who will hurt us for the tiniest thing, he wants us to fear the consequences of our sin and the fact that he plays by the rules too. That is, he has to throw you into the lake of fire if you will not repent and believe in Jesus Christ and obey him. He played by the rules he made when he sacrificed Jesus, his son, on the cross for us. He played by the rules when he raised Jesus from the dead as a promise to those who serve him in love and obedience of their reward when he comes. If you love God then you will serve him gladly, if you fear God it is because you hate the sin within you and do not want to perish because of sin. We should love and fear God. The Bible says that fear of God is the beginning of all understanding. Your fears have led you into asking the right questions. You wrote: even though i do go to church every sunday and try to follow God the best i can, even though sometimes i have committed mortal sins. for example drinking and masturbation. those are so common, hard to withstand, and so easily done, its hard to this that those are serious enough at my age. My response: Going to church doesn't mean you will enter the kingdom. Many who sit around you there have greater and more sins than you, and they will have to answer to God for them - church or not. All sin is equal in God's eyes. If you lie or you murder they both are rebellion against him and his kingdom. If you think about a woman lustfully, even though you do nothing with her Jesus told us you are guilty of adultery. So whatever we do in our sinful flesh we do in rebellion to God. Rebellion starts in the heart of man. Call upon God all the time, make him your constant companion and talk to him wherever you are. Let him help you with every decision. And live in God's Spirit. Saint Paul even struggled with sin. He said, in the Bible, that he does what he doesn't want to do and doesn't do what he wants to do. What did he do when that happened? He called out to Jesus Christ for forgiveness and was forgiven and then he had peace. If Saint Paul messed up at times then so will you, but we keep on repenting and destroying those desires that could send us to hell. Never cave in and give up! You wrote: even though im sorry for all that i done, will He still see the holy spirit in me if i havent gone to confession yet? i dont know if you can answer that and if mortal sins apply to the bible or if its just in the catechism My response: There are some good things in the catechism that come from the Bible and then there are some things that are not in agreement. All sin is mortal (deadly), that is done in our bodies in our own desire and has the ability to send us to hell if we do not repent of it. My question is simple for you: The Bible says in Romans 10:9 that if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is LORD and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead then you will be saved. It is with the tongue that we confess and with the heart that we believe and are justified before God Almighty. What this means is that you need to tell other people and Jesus, not in secret, that Jesus Christ is your King and that means you have to serve him and his kingdom if you want to enter it and be saved. And in your heart you must truly believe that Jesus rose from the dead and if we are obedient then we will too. Do these things and never stop and you will be saved on that day. God will open your eyes and you will see what others don't see. In the service of the LORD Jesus, Randy |
