My response: This verse in Daniel is the promise of the resurrection in which Daniel will take part. This will take place at the "end" meaning the last day or the day of the LORD. He will rise to receive his "lot" (KJV) or translated inheritance, meaning his place in the earthly kingdom of Jesus Christ who will reign from Jerusalem.

You said: Will he be appearing as a witness?

My response: No, he will "rest" (experience physical death) and then "stand" or rise to receive his inheritance.

You said: Will the world know who he is?

My response: I believe those in Christ will know him and see him seated close to Jesus at the wedding feast of the lamb.
